Price Action
Candle patterns, support and resistance, moving averages, trendlines and volume bursts - all at once, on one timeframe.
Examples taken from the live lists on 2 Oct 2026. Prices and rows change every hour; the steps do not.
What this tab finds
Price Action puts every stock in your list on one row and every price-action signal in its own column: the latest candlestick shape, where price sits against its moving averages, the nearest trendline, the nearest support or resistance, the big weekly zones, whether the candles are coiling inside each other, and whether there was a volume burst. You then switch on the filters you care about and the list narrows to the stocks where all of them are true at the same time.
That is what traders call confluence: a hammer is one thing, a hammer sitting on a support that has held five times is another. This tab is built to find the second kind quickly.
- Candlestick: 62 shapes - the 61 shapes of the TA-Lib library (hammer, engulfing, doji, morning star and the rest) plus the site's own "Inverted hammer (range-relative)".
- Volume burst: a candle on several times the usual volume with follow-through - the same scan as the Volume Burst tab.
- Moving average: the 21, 50, 100 and 200 period averages, EMA or SMA.
- Trendline: the nearest unbroken trendline the chart draws on this timeframe.
- Support / resistance: the stock's own support and resistance zones, and price levels like the 52-week low.
- Major zone: the few big weekly zones a chartist would draw by hand.
- Inside bars: 2 to 6 candles sitting inside the candle before them (a coil).
Everything filters in your browser, so a click narrows the list instantly. Only changing the timeframe goes back to the server, because it changes which facts exist.
Keep in mind. This tab is a finder, not a forecast. It shows where these things are true right now. It does not say what price will do next - see "What this tab does not tell you" below.
One timeframe drives everything
At the top is a row of timeframe buttons: 1 day, 3 day, 1 week, 2 week, 1 month, 2 month, 3 month. The one you pick is the candle every filter, every column and the chart's marks read. Next to the buttons the page says so in words, for example "Every filter, column and the chart read the 1 day candle."
Why one timeframe? Because confluence only means something on the same chart. A hammer on the daily chart next to a weekly trendline and a monthly average is three facts from three different charts. With one timeframe, "a hammer within 1% of the 50 EMA" means the 50-candle average of that same candle size - on the weekly screen that is the 50-week EMA.
| Changes with the timeframe | Stays the same on every timeframe |
|---|---|
| Candlestick shapes (they are found on that candle size) | Support / resistance - a level is a price, so it belongs to the stock, not to a candle size. The column header says "every timeframe". |
| Moving averages (21/50/100/200 candles of that size) | Major zone - always the weekly zones. The column header says "weekly zones". |
| Trendline (the lines drawn on that chart) | Price - the latest quote and today's change |
| Inside bars and Volume burst (counted in those candles) |
How the longer candles are made: a 3-day candle is the last three sessions folded into one, counted backwards from the newest session, so the latest 3-day candle is always the last three trading days. 2-week, 2-month and 3-month candles are built the same way from weekly and monthly candles.
Skip in-progress candle (a tick box at the top right, on by default). A week or a month that has not finished is only part-formed, and a shape on it can vanish before the candle closes. With the box ticked the screen reads the last finished candle; untick it to include the one still forming. The link then carries skip=0.
Example
The same hammer, 'latest candle' or '1 candle back' (2 Oct 2026)
2 Oct was a market holiday, so the week of 29 Sep to 1 Oct never got its Friday. With Skip in-progress candle ticked, the 1 week screen treats that week as still forming and reads the week that ended 25 Sep. WIPRO's weekly Hammer (the week of 21 to 25 Sep: opened 165.24, low 161.66, closed 164.02) then shows as the latest candle. Untick the box and the week to 1 Oct counts as a candle, so the same Hammer moves to 1 candle back.
Open it on the site →Tip. Use the daily screen for swing setups and the weekly screen for positional ones. To see a higher timeframe's trendline while you look at daily candles, use the chart's Layers panel (see "The chart" below) - you do not need to change the screen's timeframe.
Reading the list: the columns
Each row is one stock. The Stock column stays pinned on the left and the column names stay pinned on top while you scroll. The ◀ and ▶ buttons above the table move the columns one step sideways, and there is a scrollbar both above and below the table. The list shows 100 rows at a time; a button at the bottom says "Show 100 more" with how many are shown.
| Column | What it shows | Example cell (HDFCBANK, 1 day, 1 Oct 2026 close) |
|---|---|---|
| Stock | Symbol, sector, and a star to add it to a watchlist (the star does not open the chart). | HDFCBANK · Fin Services |
| Price | The latest quote and today's change. This is the one number that is not the closed candle's. | 721.20, +1.76% |
| Lines up | Seven dots, one per signal, in the order of the filters. A filled dot means that signal lines up by a fixed yardstick (see below). | 5 of 7 filled |
| Candlestick | The newest shape that fired in the last 20 candles, how long ago, and how many other shapes fired. Green for a bullish reading, red for bearish. | Closing Marubozu · latest candle · +17 more |
| Moving average | The nearest average (touching first, then the closest), how far price is from it, which one, and its value. "no history" means too few candles for that average. | −0.1% below · the 21 EMA · 721.90 |
| Trendline | The nearest unbroken line on this timeframe's chart: its name, distance, touches (×4) and where the line is now. | falling resistance · −2.1% below · ×4 · 736.33 |
| Support / resistance | The zone price is inside, or else the nearer of support and resistance: name, touches, distance, the level, and the speed of the swings that made it (daily, weekly, monthly). | inside a zone ×3 · price is in it · 731.00 · daily |
| Major zone | The nearest big weekly zone: its role, how many times price turned there, distance, its price band, and "old resistance"/"old support" when it has changed roles. | major resistance ×7 · 0.3% above price · 723–738 · old resistance |
| Inside bars | The largest coil: how many candles sit inside the candle before them, and that candle's height in % of price. | 2 inside · 2.3% range |
| Volume burst | The volume burst: "latest" or how many candles back, and the volume as a multiple of usual. | — |
A dash (—) means the signal is absent for that stock on this timeframe: no shape, no line, no coil, no burst.
Distances use one sign rule across the site: + means price is above the thing, − means below. "right at it" or "right on it" means closer than 0.05%.
The Lines up yardstick does not move with your filters, so the order means the same thing whatever you narrow. A dot fills when: a shape fired in the last 5 candles; there is an ignition in the last 20 candles; price is within 1% of an EMA or the candle touches it; price is within 1% of the trendline; price is within 1% of support or resistance, or inside a zone; price is inside or within 2% of a major zone; any coil holds. The list is sorted by the most filled dots first, then the newest shape, then A to Z.
Example
The top of the default list (1 Oct 2026 close, Nifty 200)
Open the screen with no filters and the first rows are GAIL and INDUSTOWER, each with 6 of 7 dots filled. GAIL at 171.22: a Hikkake Pattern on the latest candle, touching the 100 EMA (171.15), 0.7% under a daily Floor trendline touched 8 times, inside a daily zone touched 12 times, inside a major zone of 169–173 with 10 turns, and 2 candles coiled. Only Volume burst is empty. Across the Nifty 200, 2 stocks had 6 dots, 10 had 5 and 40 had 4.
Open it on the site →Tip. Hover over a cell and it gets an outline; click anywhere on a row to open that stock's chart.
The filter rows
Above the list are seven filter rows in two groups. Events ("happened somewhere in a look-back window"): Candlestick and Volume burst. Context ("true at the latest candle"): Moving average, Trendline, Support / resistance, Major zone and Inside bars. Tick a row's box to switch it on; its controls light up. A row that is switched off keeps its settings, so ticking it again brings them back.
All the bands are plain percentages of price (0.25%, 0.5%, 1%, 2%, 3%, 5%), not ATR. 1% means 1% whether the stock moves 0.5% a day or 5% a day.
| Filter row | Its controls, as they read | What passes |
|---|---|---|
| Candlestick | [shape] in the [latest candle / last 5 / last 10 / last 20] direction [either / bullish / bearish] | The shape (or any shape) fired within that many candles, pointing the way you asked. Default: any shape, last 5, either. |
| Volume burst | fired in the [latest candle / last 5 / last 10 / last 20] | A volume surge with follow-through in that window - the Volume Burst tab's own scan. Default: last 20. |
| Moving average | within [0.25% … 5%] [either side / above / below / touching] of the [any / 21 / 50 / 100 / 200] [EMA / SMA] | The close is within the band of that average, on the side asked. "touching" is different: the latest candle's high-to-low range crosses the average, however far the close ended. "any" passes if any of the four averages qualifies. Default: within 1% either side of any EMA. |
| Trendline | within [band] [side] of a [trendline / rising support / falling resistance] | The nearest unbroken line is within the band. Here "touching" means within 1% (and within your band). Default: within 1% either side of any trendline. |
| Support / resistance | within [band] [side] of [either / support / resistance] touched at least [once / twice / 3 times / 4 times / 5 times] | The nearest support or resistance is within the band. Price inside a zone always passes the band; it counts as support while price is above the zone's own level and as resistance while below it. Default: within 1% either side, either, once. |
| Major zone | inside, or within [1% / 2% / 3% / 5% / 10%] of major [support or resistance / support / resistance] with [3+ / 4+ / 5+ / 6+ / 8+ turns] [any zone / changed roles only] | A weekly zone with at least that many turns is that close. Price inside a major zone passes whichever side and band you picked, as long as the zone has the turns asked for. Default: 3%, either, 3+ turns, any zone. |
| Inside bars | at least [2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6] candles inside the one before them, that one [any size / 1%+ tall / 2%+ … 8%+ tall] | The latest candles all sit inside one earlier candle (the mother), and that mother is at least that tall in % of price. Default: 3 candles, any size. |
The shape list starts with "any shape", then the bullish shapes, then the bearish ones, then those that can point either way. Direction matters for the two-sided shapes: Engulfing Pattern answers "engulfing", and "bullish" keeps only the bullish engulfings.
Keep in mind. Trendline "rising support" and "falling resistance" are wider than their names. "rising support" passes any support-side line - a Rising support, a flat Floor or a Falling support - and "falling resistance" passes any resistance-side line, including a flat Ceiling. Read the line's real name in the Trendline column.
Keep in mind. Support / resistance "touched at least twice" drops the price levels that nobody counted touches on - 52w low, all-time high, prev week high, last swing low, breakout from and the like. Leave it at "once" to keep them.
Under the filters a sentence reads your screen back in words, for example: "On the 1 day candle, stocks with a Hammer in the last 5, and price now within 1% of support." If it does not say what you meant, the filters are not what you meant.
Next to it is a counter that shows how many stocks survive each filter in turn, for example 200 stocks → 24 Candlestick → 5 Support / resistance. The step that emptied the list turns red; the last step turns green when something is left. "Clear all" switches every filter, column filter and sort off at once.
Tip. Your sidebar filters (sector, price and so on) and the list you chose (for example Nifty 200) narrow the stocks first, as on every tab. The first number in the counter is what is left after them.
Every screen is a link
The address bar follows every change you make, so the screen you built is a link you can bookmark or send. Settings left at their default are left out, to keep the link short.
| In the link | Means |
|---|---|
| tf=1w | The timeframe (1d is the default and is left out). Others: 3d, 2w, 1m, 2m, 3m. |
| pattern=hammer&lb=1&dir=1 | Candlestick on: shape, look-back, direction (1 bullish, -1 bearish). |
| ig=20 | Volume burst on, with its look-back. |
| ma=50&mak=sma&maw=2&mas=touching | Moving average on: period (or any), SMA, 2% band, touching. |
| tl=support&tlw=2&tld=above | Trendline on: kind, band, side. |
| sr=support&srw=2&srt=3 | Support / resistance on: which, band, touched at least 3 times. |
| mz=support&mzw=5&mzt=6&mzf=1 | Major zone on: side, band, 6+ turns, changed roles only. |
| cm=2&cmr=3 | Inside bars on: 2 candles inside, mother at least 3% tall. |
| skip=0 | Count the in-progress candle. |
| sort=pat.new | Sorted by a column (here Candlestick, newest first). |
| v.pat=hammer|doji | A column's ticked values (here only rows whose cell shows Hammer or Doji). |
| u=nifty_200 | The stock list to screen (the guide's examples use the Nifty 200). |
Signed in, a "Save scan" button appears at the top right once the link carries any setting. Name it, add an optional note, press Keep.
The chart that opens from a row
Click a row and the stock's chart opens over the list - a card on a computer, a sheet from the bottom on a phone. It is the site's one chart (the same as on Trendline Support), opened about this row. Everything about the chart itself - speeds, Layers, drawing, zoom - is in the chart guide at /guide/chart.
At the top: the stock, its price and the speed. Then the buttons: ← and → (previous and next stock in your filtered list), the watchlist star, TradingView, and Close. Then the twelve speeds, from 15 min to 3 month. Above the chart one sentence says what lines up for this stock, in the order of the columns, for example: "A Hammer on the latest candle, price touching the 100 EMA, and inside a daily zone touched 5 times."
- Candle shapes: numbered circles on the candles they fired on (green bullish, red bearish), at most four candles from the last 10, with the names listed under the chart ("1 Hammer · latest candle").
- Volume burst: a numbered mark on the burst candle.
- Coil box: the mother candle's range as a shaded box across the coiled candles.
- Averages: the average the row named (for example the 21 EMA), or the period your filter picked.
- Levels: the support, resistance or zone the row printed, named on the price axis.
- Trendline: the row's own line is picked out.
These marks belong to the screen's timeframe, so they are drawn only on that speed. On the 1 day screen the Daily speed is the marked one; click another speed and you get the plain chart with its trendlines and a line saying "The screen reads the 1 day candle, so its signals are marked on that chart; this speed shows the chart and its trendlines." A speed whose candles are coiling right now carries a small badge on the strip.
Layers (the button beside the speeds) has a section "What the row found" with ticks for Candle shapes, Volume burst and Coil box. Untick one to clear the chart; "Save as my default for every chart" keeps your choice.
| Key or button | What it does |
|---|---|
| → (right arrow key) or the → button | Next stock in the filtered list, without closing the chart. The rows either side are fetched in advance, so the step is quick. |
| ← (left arrow key) or the ← button | Previous stock in the list. |
| Escape | Closes the chart (or an open column menu). |
| Up and down arrows | Not used by the chart - they stay with the sidebar, as on every tab. |
Tip. Filter first, then open the top row and walk the list with the → key. The list behind the chart scrolls to keep the open stock in view.
Scenarios, step by step
Every example below is from the close of 1 Oct 2026 (2 Oct was a holiday), on the Nifty 200 list. The links open the same screen; the numbers will have moved by the time you click.
Example
1. A bullish engulfing on the daily, sitting on the 50-day average
Steps: 1 day timeframe; tick Candlestick, pick Engulfing Pattern, last 5, bullish; tick Moving average, within 1% either side of the 50 EMA. Counter: 200 stocks → 26 Candlestick → 0 Moving average. Nothing - the red step tells you the average emptied it. Widen the band to 2% and 4 appear: BOSCHLTD, HDFCBANK, SIEMENS, TVSMOTOR. HDFCBANK had its bullish engulfing on the latest candle (1 Oct), closing at 721.20, 1.41% under the 50 EMA at 731.50.
Open it on the site →Example
1b. Same screen, "touching" instead of a band
Set the side to touching and only BOSCHLTD is left. Its 1 Oct candle ran from 44,410 to 46,995, so it crossed the 50 EMA at 46,012.39 - even though the close, 45,480, ended 1.16% below it. That is why it failed the 1% band but passes touching. Go back to either side and 1%, switch EMA to SMA, and the answer changes again: HDFCBANK and VBL.
Open it on the site →Example
2. Hammers at support
Tick Candlestick: Hammer, last 5. Tick Support / resistance: within 1% either side of support. Counter: 200 → 24 → 5: INDUSINDBK, IRFC, LTF, RVNL, TORNTPHARM. TORNTPHARM's hammer was on the latest candle and price (4,767.30) was inside a daily zone at 4,755.50 touched 5 times. IRFC's support was its 52w low at 76.51. Now set touched at least twice: only INDUSINDBK and TORNTPHARM stay, because a 52w low or a "breakout from" level has no counted touches.
Open it on the site →Example
3. A doji inside a coil (and what to do when the list is empty)
Tick Candlestick: Doji, last 5. Tick Inside bars: at least 3 candles inside. Counter: 200 → 89 → 0, and the empty table says "The Inside bars filter emptied it. Widen its band, or switch it off." Across the whole Nifty 200 no stock had a 3-candle coil that day. Change it to at least 2 and four appear: GAIL, HCLTECH, LTM and PREMIERENE. HCLTECH had a Doji 1 candle back and 2 candles inside a mother candle 3.2% tall (1,222 to 1,261).
Open it on the site →Example
4. Any bullish shape on a stock sitting on a weekly trendline
Pick 1 week. Tick Candlestick: any shape, latest candle, bullish. Tick Trendline: within 1% of rising support. Counter: 200 → 91 → 13. Among them WIPRO, with a Hammer on the week ending 25 Sep and price 0.35% above a weekly Falling support touched 4 times (at 158.79), and JSWSTEEL, 0.19% under a weekly Rising support touched 9 times (at 1,235.40). Note that "rising support" also let WIPRO's falling support through - the column shows the real name.
Open it on the site →Example
5. Patterns on the weekly chart
Pick 1 week, tick Candlestick, choose a shape and "latest candle". On the week ending 25 Sep (Skip in-progress candle ticked): Engulfing Pattern fired on 17 stocks, Doji on 32, Inverted hammer (range-relative) on 10, Morning Star on 2 (JINDALSTEL, UNITDSPR), Hammer on 1 (WIPRO), and TA-Lib's Inverted Hammer on none. Every column then reads weekly candles too: the averages are 21/50/100/200 weeks and the trendline is the weekly chart's.
Open it on the site →Example
6. Stocks at a round number
This tab has no round-number filter. The nearest you can do: find the confluence here, then open the chart and tick Rounds in Layers, which draws the round prices near the chart. NESTLEIND closed at 1,307.70, 0.6% above 1,300. On its daily chart a Falling support touched 3 times sat at 1,298.63, and its monthly Rising support touched 7 times was at 1,299.53 - two lines a whisker under the round number.
Open it on the site →Example
7. Combine two filters, then clear one
Start from scenario 2: Hammer + support gives 200 → 24 → 5. Now untick the Candlestick row (or open the Candlestick column menu and press Clear filter from Candlestick). The counter becomes 200 stocks → 61 Support / resistance: every stock within 1% of support or inside a zone, hammer or not. Tick Candlestick again and your Hammer, last 5 setting comes back - a switched-off row keeps its settings.
Open it on the site →Example
8. See the monthly trendline on the daily chart
HDFCBANK on the 1 day screen shows its daily line in the Trendline column (falling resistance, 2.1% above price, at 736.33). The monthly chart has a different line: a Rising support touched 4 times at 719.84, with price at 721.20, 0.19% above it. To see both on daily candles: click the HDFCBANK row, open Layers, and under Trendlines from tick Monthly. The monthly line is drawn wide and pale with its timeframe on the price axis. To screen on monthly lines instead, pick 1 month and tick Trendline - rising support: 24 Nifty 200 stocks, HDFCBANK among them.
Open it on the site →Example
9. A recent volume burst
Tick Volume burst only. With "last 5" the Nifty 200 had none. With "last 20" three: ATGL (6 candles back, 66.9× volume), INDUSTOWER (10 back, 4.2×) and INDHOTEL (19 back, 3.7×). Sort the Volume burst column by Biggest volume first to put the loudest on top. For the full burst-then-pause picture, use the Volume Burst tab.
Open it on the site →Example
10. Old resistance now holding as support
Tick Candlestick: any shape, latest candle, bullish. Tick Major zone: within 3% of major support, 6+ turns, changed roles only. Counter: 200 → 78 → 5: ASTRAL, AXISBANK, GAIL, INDUSINDBK (all four inside a major zone that used to be resistance) and PIDILITIND, 2.97% above a zone of 1,391–1,421 with 10 turns. Price inside a zone always passes this filter, even with "support" picked.
Open it on the site →Tip. Build the screen loosely first (wide bands, any shape), check the counter, then tighten one filter at a time. The counter tells you which filter is doing the cutting.
When something looks wrong
| What you see | Why |
|---|---|
| The list is empty | No stock passes every filter at once. The table keeps its column names, and the line under it names the filter (or the column's ticked values) that emptied it. Widen that one or switch it off. |
| I filtered for Doji but the Candlestick cell says Hikkake Pattern | The cell shows only the newest shape. GAIL had a Hikkake Pattern on the latest candle and a Doji 1 candle back; "+18 more" says there were others. |
| A bullish and a bearish shape on the same candle | Shapes are found independently. TORNTPHARM's 1 Oct candle fired both Hammer (bullish) and Three Outside Up/Down (bearish); the cell shows only one of them (here the bearish one), so open the chart to see both. |
| "no history" in Moving average | Too few candles of this size for that average - common for the 200 on monthly candles or for new listings. It means "cannot say", not "not near". |
| Support / resistance looks the same on every timeframe | It is meant to: a level is the stock's own price, not a candle size's. |
| The price on the chart differs a little from the Price column | The column is the list's quote; the chart's header prints the price of the chart file it draws, with its time. |
| "Loading every stock on the 1 week candle…" | The screen's data for a timeframe is one file, fetched once; it is rebuilt after each engine run. If it fails, a line says so - reload. |
Keep in mind. The Price column is the live quote, but every other column reads the last closed candle (unless you untick Skip in-progress candle). During market hours a stock can move away from a level after the candle the screen read.
What this tab does not tell you
Price Action is a finder, not a forecast. The page says it in plain words under the counter: "Measured on 718,438 daily bars, no candlestick shape beat a random bar by more than its own error band." In other words, on this market's own history, picking a bar because it was a hammer, an engulfing or a morning star did no better than picking a bar at random.
- It does not say what happens next. WIPRO's weekly Hammer closed at 164.02; by 1 Oct price was 159.35, below the hammer's body. The screen showed the hammer either way.
- It gives no entry, stop-loss or target, and no win rate for any setup.
- Bands are percentages of price, not ATR or volatility. 1% is tight for a stock that swings 4% a day and wide for one that moves 0.5%.
- Only the nearest unbroken trendline on the chosen timeframe is in the Trendline column; other lines, and other timeframes' lines, are only on the chart.
- Only the nearest support, resistance or zone and the nearest major zone are in their columns.
- No round-number filter, no sector or index trend, no fundamentals, no news.
- "Bullish" and "bearish" are the shape library's labels, not a measured edge. Some shapes are always labelled one way: TA-Lib marks every Doji, Gravestone Doji and Long Legged Doji as bullish, so they sit in the bullish part of the list and pass a "bullish" filter.
- A shape on an unfinished week or month can disappear before the candle closes - keep Skip in-progress candle ticked if that matters to you.
Keep in mind. Use the screen to find charts worth looking at, then make your own decision on the chart. Nothing here is a recommendation to buy or sell.
Glossary: the shapes and words
Only shapes the tab offers are listed. The names are as they appear in the Candlestick list.
| Shape (as in the list) | In plain words |
|---|---|
| Hammer | A small body near the top of the candle with a long lower shadow: sellers pushed price down and buyers pushed it back. Traditionally read after a fall. In the bullish part of the list. |
| Inverted Hammer | TA-Lib's version: a small body near the bottom of the candle with a long upper shadow, traditionally read after a fall. Measured against recent candles' bodies. |
| Inverted hammer (range-relative) | The site's own version of the same idea, measured against the candle's own range: body at most 35% of the range, upper shadow at least 50%, lower shadow at most 15%. It agrees with TA-Lib's on only about 40% of cases, so both are offered. |
| Shooting Star | A small body near the bottom with a long upper shadow, read after a rise - a failed push up. In the bearish part of the list. |
| Hanging Man | A hammer-like candle read after a rise. In the bearish part of the list. |
| Engulfing Pattern | A candle whose body completely covers the previous candle's body in the opposite colour. Can be bullish or bearish - use the direction control. |
| Doji, Long Legged Doji, Rickshaw Man | Open and close almost equal: indecision. Long-legged and Rickshaw Man have long shadows both ways. |
| Dragonfly Doji, Takuri | A doji with a long lower shadow and almost no upper one; Takuri has a very long lower shadow. |
| Gravestone Doji | A doji with a long upper shadow and almost no lower one. |
| Doji Star, Morning Doji Star, Evening Doji Star | A doji that gaps away from the previous candle; the morning and evening versions are three-candle turns with a doji in the middle. |
| Morning Star | Three candles: a big down candle, a small one, then a big up candle closing well into the first. A bottoming shape. |
| Evening Star | The mirror of the morning star at a top. In the bearish part of the list. |
| Harami Pattern, Harami Cross Pattern | A small candle inside the previous candle's body (a cross when the small one is a doji): the move is pausing. |
| Piercing Pattern / Dark Cloud Cover | Two candles: after a fall, an up candle closing past the middle of the previous down candle (piercing); the mirror at a top (dark cloud). |
| Three Advancing White Soldiers / Three Black Crows | Three strong candles in a row, each closing higher (soldiers) or lower (crows). |
| Three Inside Up/Down, Three Outside Up/Down | A harami or an engulfing, confirmed by a third candle. Either direction. |
| Marubozu, Closing Marubozu | A candle with no shadows (or none at the closing end): one side was in control all session. |
| Belt-hold | A long candle that opens at its extreme and runs the other way. |
| Long Line Candle / Short Line Candle | A candle with a long body / a short body compared with recent ones. |
